Uruguay tourism and sport ministerA mutual agreement on developing tourism and sport cooperation between Armenia and Uruguay was reached in Yerevan on Tuesday at a meeting between Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and the Uruguayan minister of tourism and sport, Lilian Keshishyan.

Receiving the delegation headed by the Uruguayan official of Armenian decent, the premier noted with delight that the two countries have a high level mutual political understanding. He particularly emphasized the fact that Uruguay was the first country in the world to officially recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide.

“We are happy that our compatriot occupies a high position in our friend country and hopeful that your visit will impart a new stimulus to the mutual relations. We have good traditions in the sports sector and a potential which hasn’t yet been realized. Your visit will help reveal new trends of cooperation and tools which will promote the broadening of ties in the sectors mentioned,” said the cabinet chief.

Thanking the premier for the reception, Ms Keshishyan shared her impressions of the visit to Armenia.

The ministers of sport and economy, Yuri Vardanyan and Vahram Atanesyan, later briefed the premier on the outcomes of the meeting with Uruguay’s sports minister.

PM Sargsyan and Minister Keshishyan further discussed possibilities of developing bilateral cooperation and exchanging experience in the sports and tourism sectors. They both stressed the importance of the current efforts towards facilitating the visa regime between the two countries.
