On October 3, UNWTO 38th Affiliate Members Plenary Session was held in Yerevan. The Delegation headed by the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai came to Armenia to take part in the Session.

During the official opening of the Session, the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Suren Karayan and the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai delivered welcoming speeches.

Greeting the participants and the guests, the Minister Karayan wished effective development of the Session, stressing the importance of organizing such significant world tourism event in Armenia.

“The session gives the opportunity to the guests from many countries to get acquainted in a short time with the historical and cultural values of our country, steps taken in the tourism sector, which will enable our partners to help and support the development of this sector quickly,” mentioned the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Suren Karayan in his speech.

The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai expressed gratitude for organizing the Session in Armenia and mentioned that the goal is to make Armenia famous and visible to the world.

The members of the Delegation of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) visited The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Garni Temple, Khor Virap and Geghard Monasteries, Areni-1 Cave Complex, Lake Sevan, UWC Dilijan College, participated in Areni Wine Festival 2016 and the celebration of World Tourism Day.
